Check out my Monday (8-17-26) Gulfstream Park Race 4 analysis below.
GP 4 (OC-20k/1x, 3&up, 8.5f turf) – Post Time 1:54 PM ET
Primary – #7 PARIS SURPRISE, #6 Team of Rivals
Secondary – #2 Junction Road
Horse Comments:
#7 Paris Surprise (8-5) moved to the Victor Barboza, Jr. barn and almost matched the winning par for this in a rallying runner-up finish at one mile on turf July 20. His last win was at this course and distance in February and he seems to be rounding back to his best form.
#6 Team of Rivals (3-1) picked up his first win in his third start last time. He stalked from the outside post and graduated by 2 3/4 lengths at 8T July 5 and the runner-up was a next-out winner. That was his first start in more than eight months and he earned a quality late pace rating. He fired a local half-mile bullet for this Aug. 9 and James Toner is a profitable 27% with his recent grads trying winners for the first time.
#2 Junction Road (5-2) was part of the trifecta in his last five starts. He has a good overall record on synthetic (12 4-3-3) and is 0-for-7 with a runner-up finish and two show finishes on turf. He drilled a local 3f bullet for this Aug. 10 and I like him more underneath on turf.
