Horse Comments:
#3 Discotheque (9-2) is 1-for-18 with ten runner-up finishes and was part of the exacta in five of his last six starts. He finally graduated at this course and distance July 17, and he missed by a head July 26. He has gotten faster since Kent Sweezey claimed him for $50k in April. He likes this course and distance and owns early-pressing versatility.
#5 South Bend Tom (9-2) stalked the pace and missed by a half-length at one mile June 5, and he missed the show by a nose as the favorite in a similar local extended sprint July 26 (Discotheque 2nd). Flavien Prat got to know him last time and he is 1-for-3 with Al Stall, Jr.
#6 Big Gain (3-1) turns back in distance and he completed the exacta in two of three tries at this trip. He earned a quality number in a place finish at seven panels April 22 and the show finisher was a next-out winner.
#7 Uncle Jim (10-1) hit the board in his last two claiming dirt sprints including a rallying neck defeat at seven panels April 12. Rob Atras claimed him for $40k May 3 and this is his first start as a gelding. He has struck twice at this distance and his new pilot Ricardo Santana, Jr. is a profitable 17% sprint rider.
