Horse Comments:
#5 Dustem Too (3-1) chased from second and ended up a solid third in a local $16k sprint as a 30-1 longshot July 31. The early-pressing filly made her third start off a layoff Aug. 23 and set the pace and was clearly second best in a $12.5k claiming sprint at DMR. She hit the board in all three starts at this distance and should make her presence felt throughout.
#4 Shady Stripes (6-1) was nabbed of her last by Peter Miller and she should be all over the pace. She reconnects with her winning rider Edwin Maldonado and he put her on the lead in back-to-back quality efforts in June and July.
#7 Elsa Dutton (5-2) is back on the main track and drops below her $25k claimed level for Charles Treece. She is 1-for-7 with three runner-up finishes and two show finishes in dirt sprints.
#6 Bitter Truth (6-1) turns back in distance and Jose Valdez is 3-for-12 with his route-to-sprint starters. Kazushi Kimura stays put and he is a profitable 21% sprint rider.
