#6 Trouble Ahead (7-2) drops out of the starter allowance ranks and his trainer Cameron Milligan is a profitable 30% in claiming races. This one is 0-for-3 with a pair of runner-up finishes at CD, and he handles this distance (9 2-2-1). Thursday’s rider Francisco Arrieta guided him to a runner-up finish in the slop at Ellis Park in July. His running style versatility should serve him well in this spot.
#3 Guardian (5-2) set the pace and held the place in a similar local flat mile affair Sept. 17. The 2-time local winner cuts back in distance and should be forwardly placed. He is 0-for-5 with a show finish at 6f.
#4 Stay for the Boom (9-5) chased the pace and ended up 1 3/4 lengths behind Guardian at one mile last time. That was his first local attempt and he is 0-for-4 with a runner-up finish at this distance.
#2 White Whale (9-2) stalked outside and scored by 1 3/4 lengths in a local extended sprint Sept. 27 (Clm-30k/2L, 7f). The 2-time local winner is 0-for-6 with a trio of show finishes t this distance.
