#7 Free Closer (7-2) was thrown into the deep end in the G1 Del Mar Debutante (7f) and G2 Oak Leaf (8.5f) in her last pair. She won both CA-bred starts including a romping score in the CTBA. Hector Berrios takes the call and she could easily win this.
#8 Ember Royale (6-5) set a fast pace and aired by 17 lengths at 5-2 odds in her CA-bred MSW dirt sprint bow at SA Sept. 26. She can compete for the win if she runs as fast as she did in her debut.
#5 Manee (5-1) improved her speed ratings in all four starts. She won by a neck in her last pair (5T, 6.5f dirt), and her trainer Gary Stute is 6 for his last 12 and saddled three straight winners at SA. The improving filly is the price play.
#2 Beautiful Dawn (15-1) stalked and scored at 7f odds in her 6f bow, and she finished a neck behind Manee as the favorite in a clear runner-up finish at 6.5f Oct. 3. Aggie Ordonez is 5-for-10 in the non-graded ranks and this one is interesting.
