#8 Star of Wonder (7-2) is 4-for-5 lifetime and he earned triple digit late pace ratings in his last pair. This is his longest race and Brad Cox let him develop slowly and gives him a try in the graded stakes ranks in his sixth lifetime outing. I liked his winning prep for this in a one-turn mile at AQU April 4, and he might be sitting on a new top in his second start after a layoff. Flavien Prat has booted him home twice and you just know that this rider will put him in the right stalking spot.
#1 Phileas Fogg (5-1) is an 8-for-16 win type, and he is 4-for-5 with a neck defeat since August 2024. He aired in the Queens County (9f slop) and cruised by 5 1/4 lengths in the Excelsior (10f). He rated under Kendrick Carmouche last time and the early-pressing gelding should be a tough customer in this spot.
#7 Pyrenees (8-5) won this race last year and was second in the G1 Foster, second in the G1 JCGC, and 7th in the G1 BC Classic. This is his first start since November 2024 and he runs well fresh. Jose Ortiz is his new rider and a stalking trip is expected.
#3 Encino (6-1) was part of the exacta in six of seven starts. He won the Battaglia Memorial and G3 Lexington in 2024, and returned from a long layoff and won an optional-claiming event at 10 cents on the dollar at FG in January. He set the pace and weakened in the G2 GP Mile, and made the lead and was clearly second best in the G3 Ky Cup Classic on all-weather ground March 22.
