Check out my Saturday (7-12-25) Saratoga Race Course Race 8 analysis below.

SAR 8 (G2 Bowling Green, 11f inner turf) – Post Time 4:29 PM ET
Primary – #2 EL REZEEN, #7 Far Bridge
Secondary – #5 Webslinger, #3 Tawny Port, #4 Tucson

Horse Comments:

#2 El Rezeen (8-1) is 2-for-2 at SAR and those wins were at 12T (MSW) and 11T (Alw-1x). He finished a close third behind Carson’s Run and next-out winner Deterministic in the G3 JC Derby at 11T last fall, and returned from a layoff and stalked the pace and landed the place behind next-out winner Herchee at KEE April 24 (8.5T). Todd Pletcher’s English Channel colt gets more ground to work with and might move up in his second start of the year.

#7 Far Bridge (6-5) is 8-for-17 overall and he won four of his last six graded turf starts (3 wins at 12T and one win at 11T). He cut back in distance and rallied to miss by a neck in the G1 Manhattan at 9T June 8. His winning rider Joel Rosario strings along and he is a logical top three contender.

#5 Webslinger (7-2) is a consistent turf performer for Casse. He fired trifecta shots in eight of his last ten stakes starts including a win in the Chorleywood at this distance last June. He returned from a long layoff and rallied for the place in the G2 Eclipse on all-weather ground May 31.

#3 Tawny Port (12-1) eased in the G3 Belmont Gold Cup at 1 3/4 miles in the slop June 6 (off the turf). I will just draw a line through that race. Flavien Prat stays put and he is 3-for-6 with Miguel Clement. He went 0-for-7 with five minor placings last year including neck defeats in the G2 Mac Diarmida, G2 Pan American, G3 Monmouth Stakes, and G2 United Nations. He captured the local John’s Call in 2023 and a stalking trip is expected.

#4 Tucson (15-1) won his first three starts this year including a turf allowance marathon at KEE in April. He dueled and weakened to last of 8 (beaten 25 lengths) in the G1 Manhattan last time. Luis Saez is his new rider and he should attend below par fractions.
