Saratoga Recap for Saturday (7-12-25)

Sloppy (sealed) main track and good (Mellon course) and yielding (inner turf) turf courses. Four turf races were moved to the main track (races 5, 6, 9, 12). Five front running winners on dirt (6f, 8f, 5.5f, 9f, 7f). On the turf course, overwhelming favorite Far Bridge stalked from second and was much the best in the Grade 2 Bowling Green (11T), and Excellent Truth chased from second and beat strong favorite She Feels Pretty by a head in the Grade 1 Diana (9T).

Jose Ortiz booted home four winners (3 dirt sprints). Irad Ortiz, Jr. won three dirt sprint races, and Flavien Prat (routes) and Joel Rosario both guided home two winners. Chad Brown saddled two route winners and Prat rode both. Linda Rice saddled two winners.

Stakes Recaps (7-12-25)

Grade 2 Bowling Green (11f inner turf): Corruption, Starting Over, Tawny Port, and Webslinger scratched, along with the three Main Track Only entrants. Four horses went to the gate and Tucson was the clear early leader. Strong favorite Far Bridge ($3.10) chased from second, took over when asked, opened up by 5+ lengths, and was geared down in an easy 3-length victory. El Rezeen rallied from last to finish a clear second, and Harrow was third and Tucson weakened to last. Joel Rosario rode the winner for Miguel Clement. Fractions: 24.44, 48.66, 1:14.83, 1:39.17, 2:03.00, 2:15.38.

Grade 1 Diana (9T): Be Your Best (IRE) scratched and that changed the race shape. Choisya (IRE) made the lead and Excellent Truth (IRE) chased from second. Heavy favorite She Feels Pretty was parked in third under Johnny V and Dynamic Pricing (IRE) and Lady Claypoole (IRE) trailed early. Excellent Truth turned up the pressure around the turn and She Feels Pretty followed her and the race was on. Choisya was battling inside, Excellent Truth was between horses, and She Feels Pretty poked her head in front in the stretch, and she bumped Excellent Truth. Choisya could not keep pace late and Excellent Truth ($8.00) dug in along the inside and turned away She Feels Pretty to prevail by a head. She Feels Pretty was clearly second best and Dynamic Pricing nipped Choisya for the show. Lady Claypoole trailed throughout. Flavien Prat rode the winner for Chad Brown, and this was Brown’s tenth Diana victory. Fractions: 23.78, 48.52, 1:12.61, 1:35.55, 1:47.37.
