Check out my Wednesday (7-16-25) Saratoga Race Course Race 9 analysis below.

SAR 9 (Suzie O’Cain, NY-bred 3yo fillies, 8.5f inner turf) – Post Time  5:42 PM ET
Primary – #2 MOMMY’S TURN, #3 Trail of Gold
Secondary – #7 Marvelous Madison, #5 Charlotte’s Heart, #9 Disco Star, #1 Grace and Grit

Horse Comments:

#2 Mommy’s Turn (7-2) improved her numbers in all three starts. She stretched out, moved to turf, and rallied to break her maiden May 3, and she missed by a nose in a state bred allowance turf route June 12. Three noses were on the line last time and all three are back in this spot including winner #3 Trail of Gold (9-2) and show finisher #1 Grace and Grit (8-1). Chad Brown is a profitable 26% with his third after a layoff starters.

#7 Marvelous Madison (8-1) stalked and scored in her local turf sprint bow last summer. She made the lead from post 12 before bolting and finishing 11th in the Miss Grillo (G2) second time out. Chad Brown trained her last year, and she resurfaced in the Bill Mott barn and chased the pace and weakened to 6th of 9 (beaten 2 3/4 lengths) at 19-1 odds in the Take the A Train at 6T May 10. That was her first start in 7+ months and she might move forward.

#5 Charlotte’s Heart (9-2) looked good blasting home in her local 5.5T debut last summer. She was second in the Glorious Song on all-weather ground second time out and faded to last of 9 in the Mazarine (G3) at a mile and a sixteenth last November. She resurfaced at Woodbine in the Shooting Star on April 26 and was an even 4th of 6, and she landed the place in the Bouwerie on dirt June 4. She returns to turf and stretches out in her third start of the year.

#9 Disco Star (5-1) rallied for the place in her turf sprint debut at SAR last summer. She was second in the slop in her next start, and returned to turf and easily graduated at 6T in October. She was 7th in the Ginger Brew at 8T on Jan. 4, and landed the show in her next two stakes sprints. She was a well-beaten 4th of 5 in the slop last time and stretches back out and returns to turf for Mark Casse.
