Check out my Thursday (7-17-25) Saratoga Race Course Race 8 analysis below.

SAR 8 (Alw-110k/1x, 3&up, 9f dirt) – Post Time  5:10 PM ET
Primary – #7 LORDSHIP, #3 Stars and Stripes
Secondary – #1 Waitlist, #2 Rocketeer, #6 Dr. Kraft

Horse Comments:

#7 Lordship (8-1) was the favorite in his dirt route debut at Tampa Bay on March 22 and he rallied to win by a length and a quarter. He was 5-2 in the Long Branch second time out and was a non-threatening 4th of 7 (beaten 6.25 lengths). Chad Brown is a profitable 26% with horses adding blinkers for the first time, and he goes back on lasix and Flavien Prat wins races with this outfit. He has upside and needs pace help.

#3 Stars and Stripes (6-5) was 31-1 in his flat mile bow on May 17 and he overperformed in a clear show finish. He added lasix and was less than even money second time out and he pressed and aired by 10 lengths in the slop at this distance. Bill Mott’s promising colt should make his presence felt from the outset.

#1 Waitlist (9-2) returned from a layoff and stalked the pace and was clearly second best at one mile May 10. He stretched out to a mile and a quarter in an off the turf affair in the mud May 23, and he pressed slow fractions and settled for the place, and was 11 1/4 lengths in front of the show finisher. He sat in midpack in a 10-horse field and was best of the rest in third at this course/distance on June 6. He was no threat to the top two in that slow early/fast late event, and Malarchuk returned to score at Saratoga on July 12. Linda Rice is off to a fast start at the current stand and an inside stalking trip is expected.

#2 Rocketeer (8-1) stretches back out in his third start after a layoff. He was forwardly placed and hit the board in both local starts at this distance last summer, and he should impact the pace under Irad Ortiz, Jr.

#6 Dr. Kraft (4-1) chased from second and prevailed by a neck in a state bred optional-claiming affair at 1 1/8 miles on June 20.
