Horse Comments:
#3 Moment’s Pleasure (7-2) makes her first start since March and she likes this course (5 2-2-0) and distance (9 3-3-1). She rallied to win this race at 4-1 odds last summer.
#7 Grand Slam Smile (5-2) always finishes in the top three (13 7-5-1) and she can route or sprint and handles any footing. She is 2-for-3 with a runner-up finish on turf. She won the Cal Cup Oaks at 8T and the California Distaff at 6.5T in 2024, and set the pace and held the place in the local Osunitas at 8T July 20.
#6 Prancingthruparis (4-1) stretches back out and returns to turf after chasing Grand Slam Smile home in an OC-80k/2x dirt sprint at LRC as the favorite June 28. She reunites with her winning rider Armando Ayuso and the 4-time turf winner might succeed here if she can lay off the pace a bit like she did in the Irish O’Brien in March.
#1 Miso Phansy (15-1) chose this race over Saturday’s G1 Del Mar Oaks. The sophomore filly was part of the exacta in six of seven career starts on turf. She missed by a nose under Sunday’s rider Hector Berrios in the G3 Honeymoon at 9T in May, and was 7th of 9 as a 25-1 longshot in the G2 San Clemente last time.
