#5 Thirsty Rebel (3-1) was the 2-1 favorite in his local 5f bow and he stalked from the inside post and graduated by 3 3/4 lengths, and runner-up Can’t Help Myself returned to earn his diploma by 2+ lengths as the chalk on Aug. 16. He earned a decent number last time and might give morning line favorite #1 Sammy Davis (5-2) a test. The latter looked good wiring the field as the favorite in his course/distance bow July 18. He was 1.90-1 in the Graduation second time out and he made the lead again and won by 2 1/4 lengths. He should be all over the pace from the rail for the productive Hector Berrios/John Sadler team.
#3 Saul Elliott (4-1) attended the pace and looked good winning from the outside post as the 3-2 favorite in his 4.5f bow May 25. He shipped to CD and was 7-2 in the Bashford Manor second time out and he bled and was beaten 15 lengths (clear runner-up next-out winner). Doug O’Neill’s fresh colt shows seven local works for this and five of those were from the gate.
#6 Max Ciao (5-1) stalked while out in the clear and cruised by 6+ lengths in a local state bred MSW affair at this trip Aug. 8. I can see him working out a similar trip in this spot.
