Horse Comments:
#7 Salamis (3-1) looked good graduating as the favorite in a flat mile turf race at SAR on Aug. 8. He improved his numbers in all four starts and earned a decent late pace rating last time. Flavien Prat sticks with Chad Brown’s colt.
#5 Candytown (7-2) put it together at SAR last time. In that entry level allowance race at 8.5T, he stalked below par fractions and kicked away to win by 3+ lengths. He graduated at 8T and Edgard Zayas rides him well. He earned an improved number last time and might maintain form in his third start after a layoff.
#6 Capitol Hill (5-2) was a wide 11th of 14 at KD last time and he had post 12 and that is a quirky turf course. He was 7th in the G1 Saratoga Derby before that. His show finish in the G3 Manilla on July 4 gives him a look in this spot.
#4 Griffin’s Wharf (6-1) landed the place in his last pair and seems to be on the upswing. His race was rained off the turf course on July 11, and he competed on turf for the first time and rallied for the place Aug. 7. Stars and Strides beat him at 8T last time and that one clicked right back in the Saranac.
