#4 Transcedental (3-1) missed by a neck in an extended sprint at Ellis Park on Aug. 1 (show finisher next-out winner), and he stalked wide and weakened to 4th of 5 in a local route Aug. 25 (1-2 finishers next-out winners). Ernesto Padilla-Preciado is a strong 37% with his second after the claim starters and he might go better in his third start off a layoff. He won at this distance at Churchill last fall.
#3 Asmodeus (5-1) pressed the pace, got clear, and missed by a head in a local $15k claimer at a mile and seventy yards on Sept. 8 and that effort netted him the best last-race number. All three of his wins were at one mile and Irving Rodriguez is a profitable 25% with his second after the claim starters. He gets in light with 7-pound apprentice rider Kendra Rivera and he should attend the pace.
#1 Secured Landing (5-2) was part of the exacta in all five local starts (3 wins). He dueled and missed by a half-length at a mile and seventy yards on Sept. 16. This is his third start off a long layoff and he should attend the pace from the inside post.
#2 He’s Got Swagger (4-1) was claimed for $16k by Ernesto Padilla-Preciado on Aug. 2 and he ran well in both turf routes since including a $25k/3L win on Aug. 30. The late runner is 1-for-3 with two show finishes on fast dirt.
