Check out my Friday (10-2-25) Keeneland Race 7 analysis below.
KEE 7 (G2 Phoenix, 6f) – Post Time 4:12 PM ET
Primary – #4 WORLD RECORD
Secondary – #3 Skelly, #5 Nakatomi
Horse Comments:
#4 World Record (8-5) was part of the trifecta in nine of ten starts (4 wins). Last year’s G2 Amsterdam hero returned with a fast OC-100k/3x wire job win at CD May 1. He battled on the pace and held the place in the G3 Aristides May 31 and he regressed a bit that day. Flavien Prat followed him to SoCal for the G1 Bing Crosby on July 26 and he stalked the pace and was best of the rest in third as the beaten favorite. He won a local OC sprint last fall and is stabled at KEE, and he likes this distance (6 2-1-3). His early-pressing versatility should serve him well in this spot.
#3 Skelly (3-1) is 12-for-22 with six runner-up finishes at 6f. He usually makes the early lead and is probably the target. He lost his last two starts but did run better last time under Luis Saez, and this is his second start after a layoff.
#5 Nakatomi (5-2) has a good overall record at KEE (6 3-2-0) and he landed the place in this event in 2023 and 2024. He is not big on winning recently (2 for last 15) and he frequently finishes in the top three at 6f (14 2-4-6).
