#7 Governor Sam (6-1) removed blinkers and rallied for the show in the G1 Franklin-Simpson at 6.5T at KD Sept. 6. The versatile 3-year-old colt does some of his best work at 5.5T and his winning rider Irad Ortiz, Jr. strings along. He wired the field in the local Indian Summer at this distance last fall.
#1 Arrest Me Red (9-2) is 10-for-27 overall and he won a local allowance turf sprint last fall. Luan Machado is 2-for-2 with Wesley Ward recently and he shows multiple local turf works for this.
#8 Khaadem (4-1) shipped from Europe to Kentucky Downs twice and he rallied to hit the board in the G2 Turf Sprint at 6T in 2024 and 2025. Frankie Dettori sticks with the late running 9-year-old gelding.
#3 Joe Sheisty (8-1) is 3-for-6 with a runner-up finish at this distance and he is 1-for-1 at KEE. Tyler Gaffalione is his new rider and he is 4-for-4 with Eric Foster recently, and he drilled a 4f bullet for this Sept. 19. Barn shows a profit with this type of short layoff runner and the front runner might get brave if able to shake loose early. He had a troubled start and never fired at KD last time. He only has one way to go.
#5 Doncho (3-1) exits back-to-back front running wins at this distance on turf. He beat Alogon by a neck last time and that one returned to win the G3 Belmont Turf Sprint Sept. 27. Jose Ortiz is his new rider and he should be right up on the pace.
