Horse Comments:
#11 Vibez (3-1) is 3-for-4 with a runner-up finish at DMR and she tries to bring her recent strong form to SA (5 0-0-1 at SA). She shipped to Lone Star and rallied to miss by a neck in the Wasted Tears at 8.5T June 28, and returned to SoCal and rallied from post 10 to miss by a half-length at 8T affair July 31 (show finisher next-out winner). I made her my top choice in an OC-100k affair at 8T Aug. 30 and she stalked and won easily by 3 1/4 lengths as the favorite.
#3 Word Play (7-2) seeks her fourth straight win. Jeff Mullins claimed her out of a runner-up finish in April and she was the favorite in her last four starts. She missed by a half-length on May 25 and rattled off flat mile turf wins on June 15, Aug. 8, and Sept. 6. She always runs her race at 8T (9 3-2-4) and her winning rider Umberto Rispoli sticks with her.
#9 Miss Roberts (5-1) went last-to-first at 5T Aug. 10 and she rallied for the show at 5T Aug. 29 (runner-up next-out winner). She won a local 6.5T affair in April and handles longer distances but is 0-for-4 with two show finishes at 8T. Hector Berrios rides her well and she will try to get involved late.
#6 Watchtower (6-1) had the saddle slip and pulled up and walked off in the G2 Rodeo Drive at 10T Oct. 4. She is back quickly, likes this distance (5 2-2-0), and won then local G3 Autumn Miss at 8T under Monday’s rider Herrera last fall. She started 2025 with a rallying show finish in the G2 Yellow Ribbon and was 5th of 7 in the One Dreamer at KD Sept. 4.
#5 Raw Ability (10-1) won her 8T bow in IRE and won her next two SoCal starts at one mile on turf. She was a fading 8th in the G3 Royal Heroine in April and a troubled 7th in the Osunitas at DMR last time. She is versatile and Kyle Frey is her new rider.
