Horse Comments:
#7 Causeway Benny (7-2) missed the show by a neck in an even effort in the local Saint Gabriel race on Oct. 30. He graduated at Delta Downs last year and his early-pressing speed should serve him well in this spot.
#1 Saint Gabriel (5-2) fired trifecta shots in all nine local starts (9 3-2-4). He pressed and prevailed by a nose in an allowance event at this course and distance as the favorite on Oct. 30. The versatile gelding is a logical top three contender.
#6 Pacificislandtime (12-1) set the pace and missed by a head in this event last year and he ended up a length in front of Saint Gabriel that day. He was the favorite in his last two local flat mile starts and he was second on Oct. 18 and first on Oct. 31.
#2 Jeffrow (8-1) dropped into a $25k claimer and got up in the final strides in a local race at seven panels Oct. 31. He earned a decent late pace rating last time and might rally for a share at a price. He rallied mildly from the inside post to finish fourth in this event last year and he is sharper now.
