Solana Beach Stakes – Winner: Pulpit Rider ($24.80)
Mucho Unusual looked like a standout on paper, and this race set up perfectly for her, but she could not seal the deal. Kitty Boom Boom set a fast pace and Cordiality chased. Mucho Unusual was outside and in the clear in 3rd under Prat, and she came after the leaders and grabbed a short lead in the lane. Sedamar was gaining inside and Pulpit Rider made an outside move, and both got past Mucho Unusual late and hit the wire together. Pulpit Rider got her nose down at just the right moment to score over Sedamar, and Mucho Unusual was another 1/2 length back in 3rd. Cordiality checked in 4th and Kitty Boom Boom faded to 5th and last. Big Sweep and Smiling Shirlee scratched.

CTT & TOC Stakes – Winner: Maxim Rate ($7.00)
Quick (GB) was quicker than her rivals early, but stamina was the key to success in this turf marathon at a mile and three furlongs. Quick actually ran a quality race. She almost stole this one, but Maxim Rate was always in a good stalking spot under Umberto Rispoli, and she wore down the aforementioned front runner to score by a neck. Quick just held 2nd by a nose over Over Thinking, and Catch the Eye was late on the scene for 4th. Meal Ticket was an even 5th, and Siberian Iris was just behind that one. Pretty Point, Imperial Creed, Don’t Blame Judy, and Ms Peintour trailed.
