Check out my Race 7 analysis for 3-17-24 below.
SA 7 (Irish O’Brien, CA-bred, 6.5T hillside)
Primary – #3 STAY AND SCAM, #4 Chancery Way
Secondary – #5 Rose Maddox
Wagers: #3 to win, Exacta box 3-4, Trifecta 3-4/3-4-5/3-4-5
Comments: #3 Stay and Scam (5-1) fired trifecta shots in all six turf starts and might be the value play. The early-pressing filly stalked and missed by a head in the Sunshine Filly & Mare Turf Sprint, and got to the front, lost the lead, and came again to win as the favorite at this course/distance Feb. 10. #4 Chancery Way (2-1) is a 7-for-13 mare with four stakes wins. She hit the board in all four turf starts including a nose loss in the Sunshine Filly & Mare Turf Sprint. Fresu rides her will and she is probably the target. #5 Rose Maddox (5-2) exits a non-threatening fourth in the Spring Fever on the main track. Dirt is her weakest surface. She is 1-for-7 on dirt, 2-for-3 on all-weather, and 4-for-11 on turf. She won the California Distaff at this course and distance last fall, and captured the Sunshine Filly & Mare Turf Sprint under Sunday’s rider Prat at 6.5T Jan. 13. I respect her in this spot but this race might not set up for her.
