#5 Citadino (3-1) was excellent in a local maiden sprint romp on Aug. 21. He pressed, took over, and was miles the best in a sharp victory by 9 1/4 lengths last time. He hit the board in a trio of dirt routes at Santa Anita earlier this year and Juan Silva is strong with his recent grads trying winners for the first time.
#3 Ramsey (5-1) dropped back into a maiden claimer and cruised to a strong victory by 4 1/4 lengths in a 6 1/2 furlong sprint at Charles Town on Aug. 15, and the clear runner-up was a next-out winner. He stretches back out and Brandon Whitacre is 2-for-2 with Kevin Joy recently.
#1 Manfredi (8-5) might get overbet in this spot. I am always skeptical of romping wet track winners, and this one graduated by a dozen lengths in an off the turf special weight affair as the overwhelming favorite in the mud on July 30 (runner-up next-out winner). He ran well in back-to-back efforts on turf prior to his last, and failed to fire in his two previous fast track attempts. Eric Reed is solid with his recent grads trying winners for the first time.
#6 My Boy Clyde (4-1) failed to get seriously involved in his last two turf starts. Getting back on dirt should lead to an improved effort, and I can see him rallying for a minor award for a productive jockey-trainer team.
