Horse Comments:
#6 Moment’s Pleasure (7-2) finished in the top three in her last five starts. She won back-to-back turf routes at DMR on July 28 and Aug. 18 (Solana Beach), and rallied wide from post 10 and picked up the show as the beaten favorite in a local turf route Sept. 29. She gets a better post and her winning rider Hector Berrios stays put, and she probably won’t be as far back early this time.
#4 Queen of the Mud (3-1) was part of the trifecta in 6 of 7 sprint starts. She landed the place in her last three stakes starts and was beaten a length as the favorite in her last pair. Juan Hernandez takes the call and Graham Motion has good stats with his first route starters, and she has some distance influences in her pedigree.
#1 Royal Charter (6-1) shipped to this country and rallied to win a local flat mile optional-claiming turf race as the 4-1 favorite April 6, and rallied for the place as the beaten chalk at DMR Aug. 11. She was 41-1 in the John C. Mabee (G2) Sept. 7 and she set the pace and weakened to 5th of 7, and winner Hang the Moon clicked right back in the Rodeo Drive (G2). She is back at her winning distance and this is an easier spot, and she might revert to patient tactics.
#8 Miss Lizzy (9-2) does some of her best work at SA and she has won at this distance before. She owns competitive numbers and fits on class.
