#3 Grateful My Love (3-1) is a maiden with ability for Michael McCarthy. She messed up the break and showed late interest when finishing 5th of 12 (beaten 6 lengths) Sept. 28. Johnny V rode back in the Golden State Juvenile Fillies at seven panels Nov. 1 and the second timer rallied through traffic to miss by a nose as my 6-1 top choice. Recently hot rider Juan Hernandez takes the call and he is 2-for-6 with this barn.
#1 In the Air Tonight (2-1) was my top choice in the local CTBA Aug. 4 and she overcame a wide trip from the outside post over a speed favoring surface to win by 5 1/4 lengths. She stalked the pace and landed the place in the Generous Portion Sept. 2, and ended up 14 lengths in front of the show finisher. Steve Knapp’s Stay Thirsty filly was overmatched when finishing 4th of 6 (beaten 11 lengths) in the Oak Leaf (G2), and rallied to finish a close third as the beaten favorite when last seen in the Golden State Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar. She stretches back out and ran well in all four state bred attempts.
#7 Musical Number (6-1) dueled and scored by 2 lengths as the favorite in her local debut at 5 1/2 panels Sept. 21. She stalked and scored at six panels second time out at Santa Anita and the show finisher was a next-out winner. Dean Pederson is a profitable 7-for-21 with his non-graded stakes runners and this one should impact the pace.
#8 Tequilaandtherapy (7-2) switched to dirt and rallied to upset the Golden State Juvenile Fillies at 11-1 odds last time. She graduated at this distance on turf and drilled a half-mile bullet for this at Del Mar Dec. 1.
