#3 Julia’s Warrior (4-1) matched the winning par for this in a local $5k claiming victory by 3 1/4 lengths at this distance Nov. 22. His new trainer Juan Larrosa has good stats first after the claim and his winning rider Axel Concepcion stays put. A stalking trip is expected and he is sharp enough to compete with these.
#7 Crime Spree (7-2) returned from a long layoff and struck in a $5k claimer as the 1-2 favorite at Belterra Park June 26, and clicked right back in a starter allowance event at that same venue Aug. 3. He chased above par fractions and ran last in a 5-horse field Sept. 4. He has won at Fair Grounds before and sports three local works for this. This is a speed friendly distance and he might be the one to catch (best recent pace ratings).
#5 Global Pride (5-2) dropped into a $20k/2L dirt sprint at Keeneland and finished up the track Oct. 13. Joe Sharp claimed him that day and he shipped to Fair Grounds and won a $20k/2L dirt sprint by a head Dec. 8. Leading rider Jose Ortiz strings along and the Bolt d’Oro gelding might be able to make it two straight local tallies.
#6 Wee Miss Arlington (9-2) ran well in his last four dirt sprint attempts. He scored at six panels in Illinois on Aug. 29 and Oct. 19, and stalked the pace and landed the place in a local $15k claimer at five panels Dec. 6 (off the turf). The sophomore gelding is not out of this.
