The Untapable Stakes at Fair Grounds was the final Kentucky Oaks 2025 prep race of the year, and Her Laugh made the lead and kept on going in a sharp victory. In this year-end report, I will recap the Untapable, update the Oaks points standings, and share my top five Oaks contenders.
I am covering all of the road to Kentucky Oaks prep races on my Runaway Horse YouTube Channel, and through the first 10 points races, my top choices have 4 wins, 3 runner-up finishes, and a show finish. The next Oaks points race is the Grade 3 Santa Ynez Stakes at Santa Anita Park on Jan. 5, and I will post that video later this week.
Kentucky Oaks 2025 Points Race Recaps
Untapable Stakes at Fair Grounds (12-21-24): Pace makes the race and Practical Joke filly Her Laugh got to the front through slow splits and that was all it took. She kicked away by 4 1/2 lengths in the stretch and won under wraps by 2 1/2 lengths. My top choice Golden Gamble did not have the smoothest trip from off the pace. She found clear sailing in the stretch and landed the place in a respectable performance, and California Sunset rallied from last of 8 to finish a clear third. Stable Currency (4th) and Drexel Hill (5th) also picked up Oaks points. Axel Concepcion rode the winner for Whitworth Beckman. Fractions: 24.63, 49.00, 1:13.95, 1:39.49, 1:43.72.

Jarrod Horak’s Fabulous Five Kentucky Oaks 2025 Contenders (12-30-24)
#1 – Immersive (Nyquist – Gap Year, by Bernardini) – Trainer: Brad Cox – Last Ranking (1)
Comments: The clear division leader rattled off Grade 1 wins in the Spinaway, Alcibiades, and BC Juvenile Fillies. Her speed ratings are on the rise and she is classy and talented, and she is expected to be named 2-year-old filly champion at the Eclipse Awards ceremony on Jan. 23.
#2 – Muhimma (Munnings – Princess Carolina, by Tapit) – Trainer: Brad Cox – Last Ranking (2)
Comments: This filly is a perfect 3-for-3 but still has something to prove. She stretched out, controlled the pace, and won the 1 1/8 miles Demoiselle (G2) by a length. We will learn more about what she is truly made of when she is challenged in the early going.
#3 – Quickick (McKinzie – Graeme Six, by Graeme Hall) – Trainer: Tom Amoss – Last Ranking (3)
Comments: She stretched out after two sprints and rallied for the place behind division leader Immersive in the Alcibiades (G1), and got up for the show behind Immersive in the BC Juvenile Fillies (G1) Nov. 1. She seems to want more ground and might show a bit more in upcoming stakes starts.
#4 – Good Cheer (Medaglia d’Oro – Wedding Toast, by Street Sense) – Trainer: Brad Cox – Last Ranking (4)
Comments: She did nothing wrong in 2024, capturing all four starts from off the pace and picked up Oaks points in the Rags to Riches and Golden Rod (G2). Brad Cox is loaded with talent in this division heading into 2025.
#5 – Ballerina d’Oro (Medaglia d’Oro – In the Moonlight, by Tapit) – Trainer: Chad Brown – Last Ranking (5)
Comments: The $320k yearling purchase ran a quality race on the surface switch in the Grade 2 Demoiselle at Aqueduct Dec. 7. She was getting to front running winner Muhimma in the late going and is bred to improve with age.
Next Nine: (6) Non Compliant, (7) Tenma, (8) Senza Parole, (9) Quietside, (10) Scottish Lassie, (11) Look Forward, (12) Vodka With a Twist, (13) Her Laugh, (14) Golden Gamble
