Check out my Sunday (2-23-25) Oaklawn Race 10 analysis below.
OP 10 (G3 Razorback, 8.5f) – Post Time 5:45 PM ET
Primary – #3 FIRST MISSION, #2 Banishing
Secondary – #5 Skinner, #4 Alexander Helios, #8 Baddest Good Boy, #1 Crupi
Horse Comments:
#3 First Mission (5-1) makes his first start in more than half a year for Brad Cox and he sports a pair of 5f bullets at FG for this. He won the G3 Lexington and missed by a nose in the G2 Clark in 2023. He easily won the G3 Essex and G2 Alysheba last year, and completed his 2024 campaign with a 4th in the G1 Foster and a 7th in the G1 Whitney. He runs well fresh and is 1-for-1 at OP and 4-for-4 at this trip. Take away his Grade 1 starts and he is 3-for-4 with a nose defeat in Grade 2-3 races.
#2 Banishing (7-2) is a head away from five straight wins around one turn. He won his last three starts including back-to-back wins at OP. He lost lasix and aired by 7 1/2 lengths as the chalk in the Byerley Turk Jan. 23 . He has struck twice at this distance and should be forwardly placed under Flavien Prat.
#5 Skinner (6-1) won the G3 Native Diver at DMR for Shirreffs last fall. He moved to the DeVaux barn and finished a close third in the slop in the G3 Louisiana Jan. 18. He drilled a best of 104 half-mile bullet for this Feb. 14 and Jose Ortiz got acquainted with him last time.
#4 Alexander Helios (10-1) was part of the trifecta in his last 10 starts. He exits an OC-62.5k/2x dirt route win at GP, and the early-pressing type has won at OP before and sports a 5f bullet for this.
#8 Baddest Good Boy (9-2) stalked and scored by a neck in his local sprint bow at 8-1 odds Dec. 21, and stretched out, battled on the pace, and comfortably won a local allowance race at this distance Jan. 25. He earned a good number last time and might be able to step up and play ball with these.
#1 Crupi (6-1) competed in G1-2 races in his last eight starts. He won the G2 Suburban, was 2nd in the G2 Brookyn and G1 Whitney, and finished 3rd in the G1 Pegasus and G2 Woodward. He misfired in his last two starts in the G2 Clark and G1 Pegasus. Todd Pletcher’s late runner fits with these on his best day but needs pace help and a clean trip, and might be best used underneath.
