Horse Comments:
#6 Northern Chill (3-1) earned a decent number in a pressing starter allowance victory at this course and distance. The early-pressing gelding does some of his best work at six panels and this is a speed friendly distance.
#9 Risk It (9-2) is now trained by David Jacobson and he is a profitable 21% with new additions to his barn. The 1-for-15 colt exits a close show finish vs. similar course/distance foes. Jose Ortiz is a profitable 3-for-11 with this outfit.
#7 Furious Anger (4-1) is a 4-time local winner exiting a late running starter allowance victory at Churchill. This is his third start after a layoff and his winning rider Corey Lanerie is a profitable 26% with Dale Romans.
#5 Holster (7-2) exits back-to-back local wins at 6 1/2 panels and he was claimed both times. Linda Rice (7 0-0-0 at CD) has him now and he should attend the pace.
#3 River Ridge (15-1) graduated as the favorite at Keeneland in a maiden claimer at this distance last fall. He landed the show in one of his next four starts, and put blinkers back on and aired in a $20k/2L dirt route at Keeneland on April 24. He turned back and scored as the favorite at Prairie Meadows on May 9 and the runner-up was a next-out winner. He was an even 5th of 8 as the beaten favorite in a route on May 24 (show finisher next-out winner), and he turns back and earned decent numbers in both wins this year.
