#3 Celtic Contender (6-1) was best of the rest in third behind Booth and Epic Ride in the Maryland Sprint at Pimlico on May 17. This is his favorite oval (12 5-2-3) and he can be in the mix at a hint of a price in his second start after a short layoff.
#5 Subrogate (3-1) returned from a long layoff and stalked the pace from the inside post and landed the place in the Mr. Prospector at Monmouth on May 26. He sports back-to-back bullets for this and might move up in his second start off the bench.
#7 Dean Delivers (6-1) wired the field in this event last year and that was his third of four straight stakes wins. He was third in the G3 Vosburgh and 7th in the Fall Highweight, and returned from a lengthy layoff and finished a solid third in the Mr. Prospector last time. The early-pressing gelding has worked three times since his last and is ready for a repeat attempt.
#6 Super Chow (5-2) wired the field in an off the turf stakes race vs. three opponents in the slop at Monmouth on June 15. He is 8-for-17 at this distance and should be right up on the pace.
#2 Caramel Chip (10-1) earned a decent number in a late running place finish behind Roll On Big Joe at Churchill Downs on May 16, and show finisher Durante captured the G3 Aristides on May 31. Roll On Big Joe and Durante are both entered Saturday in the G3 Kelly’s Landing at Churchill. The 12-time winner likes this distance (13 5-4-1) and John Velazquez takes the call.
