Saturday (7/30/2022)
Saratoga Race Course
Weather: Temperatures in the high-70’s with low chance of precipitation

Race 8: Gr. I $350,000 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (6F, Dirt, 3yr Old’s +)

#3 – Ny Traffic (6-1): These short fields are becoming ridiculous at NYRA and you can’t pick all the favorites ALL the time! #4 – Jackie’s Warrior (1-5) looms large over this field as he puts his 4-for-4 record over the track on the line. The four-year-old son of Maclean’s Music has tabbed nearly $2.5 million in career earning and has only lost once at this distance. I am hoping Ny Traffic gets some help up front putting pressure on Jackie Warrior, or we might just witness another paid workout over the historic track. Plays: #3 to Win, Exacta 3 – 4

Race 9: Gr. II $600,000 Jim Dandy Stakes (9F, Dirt, 3yr Olds)

#2 – Epicenter (3-2): Gets his revenge match against #4 – Early Voting (8-5) from the Preakness Stakes back on May 21st. Epicenter had a tough campaign up to that point running in all Fair Ground Kentucky Derby preps, along with two legs of the Triple Crown. He’s had a couple months to regroup, and I think he runs down Early Voting in the lane here. Early Voting had an uneventful trip in the Preakness and came into the race fresh, but he won’t get a similar setup in this one. #5 – Zandon (2-1) is also fresh but could be up against it given his late running style. I think Brown is really gearing up for the Travers for this one so I’m suspecting they will be happy if he hits the board. Plays: #2 to Win, Exacta 2-3, Trifecta 2,4-3 -5
