Fast main track and firm turf course. No front running winners on dirt. On the turf course, a 2-1 closer graduated in the flat mile opener, a last-to-first closer scored at one mile, a closing favorite graduated at 6f, a last-to-first closer won at 6.5f, and a last-to-first closer captured the final at 1 1/8 miles (rail at 30 feet).

Leading rider Juan Hernandez guided home four winners. Umberto Rispoli booted home a pair on turf.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $101,737, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $852.70. The jackpot carryover stands at $23,294.

Fast main track and firm turf course. No front running winners on dirt. On the turf course, a 2-1 stalker breaking from the inside post won the 6.5f opener, a 2-1 front runner tallied at 6.5f, a 9-2 front runner scored at 9f, a front running favorite graduated at 6.5f, and a last-to-first closer captured the flat mile finale at 13-1 odds (rail at 10 feet).

Hector Berrios and Ramon Vazquez (turf sprints) both booted home a pair. Vladimir Cerin (sprints) and George Papaprodromou (turf) both saddled two winners.

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 6-3-23

Summertime Oaks (G2): The Alys Look and Ancient Peace battled on the pace and the latter shook off pace pressure and gamely stayed around. Window Shopping ($9.00) finished a troubled third in the SA Oaks but she found clear sailing from a stalking position this time. Berrios did a good job staying out of trouble and she proved best in the late going in a 1 3/4 length tally. Ancient Piece showed grit in a fine runner-up finish and Lilly Poo rallied from last and was a clear third. Anywho was bet down to favoritism and broke slow and finished a wide fourth. Doinitthehardway, The Alys Look, and And Tell Me Nolies completed the order of finish. The final time for 8 1/2 furlongs on dirt was 1:45.01.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $140,331, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $12,493.78. The jackpot carryover stands at $55,420.

On the turf course, a stalker won the 6f opener, a stalking favorite scored at 6.5f, a stalking favorite graduated at one mile, a closing favorite tallied at one mile, and a stalking favorite earned his diploma in the flat mile finale.

Abel Cedillo, Antonio Fresu (turf), and Ramon Vazquez each booted home a pair.

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 6-4-23

Affirmed (8.5f): Geaux Rocket Ride ($3.00) did not disappoint as the 1-2 chalk. Del Mar Jerry and Hard to Figure battled on the front end. Geaux Rocket Ride sat in third, pounced outside, got clear, and scored by 1 3/4 lengths for Ramon Vazquez and Richard Mandella. Mr Fisk stalked the pace and was miles clear of show finisher Hard to Figure. Ze’bul and Del Mar Jerry trailed. Skinner scratched. The final time was 1:43.75.

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $224,512, and multiple tickets with six winners paid $84.60. The jackpot carryover stands at $106.823.
