Del Mar Recap for Thursday (8-17-23)

Fast main track and firm turf course. Two front running sprint winners on dirt (6f, 6.5f). On a speed favoring turf course, a front running favorite graduated in the 5f opener, a dueling favorite tallied at 5f, a 5-1 front runner scored at one mile, and a front running favorite tallied at 5f (rail at 30 feet).

No riding or training doubles on Thursday.

July 24 Claims: Race 2 – Magazine ($16k, Peter Eurton). Race 4 – Beau Soleil ($32k, Jorge Periban), Misty Muppet ($32k, Mike Puype). Race 8 – Burton Way ($62.5k, Sandino Hernandez), Foreign Influence ($50k, Librado Barocio), Happy Tears ($50k, Doug O’Neill).

The 20 cent Rainbow 6 pool was $66,282 and multiple tickets with six winners paid $2,950.84. The jackpot carryover stands at $15,176. There is also a Super High 5 carryover of $18,472 into Friday’s finale.

Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running sprint winner at 5 1/2 panels on dirt. The other three dirt winners stalked the pace. On a turf course kind to late runners, a stalking favorite won the opener at 1 1/6 miles, a last-to-first closer graduated as the favorite at 8.5f, a last-to-first closer pulled off a 26-1 upset at one mile, and a last-to-first closer captured the CTT ad TOC at 1 3/8 miles (rail at 30 feet).

Umberto Rispoli rode both halves of the early double, and Antonio Fresu booted home the late double.

Fast main track and firm turf course. No front running sprint winners on dirt. On the turf course, a stalking favorite graduated at 1 1/8 miles, a 6-1 closer broke her maiden at one mile, a 21-1 stalker scored at one mile, a last-to-first closing favorite won the Del Mar Oaks (G1) at 1 1/8 miles, and a 2-1 favorite rallied to win the finale at 1 1/6 miles.
