Horse Comments:
#4 Stay Hot (5-2) is 5-for-7 on turf and 2-for-2 at Del Mar, and both local wins were in the stakes ranks (G3 Cecil B. DeMille, La Jolla). He should be heard from in the lane under Antonio Fresu.
#6 Formidable Man (8-5) rallied to win the restricted Oceanside on opening day. Umberto Rispoli rides him well and he is versatile.
#1 Guy Named Joe (7-2) rallied for the place as my top choice in the Oceanside. Juan Hernandez stays put and he should save ground behind the speed. The race flow was in his favor last time and that might not be the case in this race.
#5 Atitlan (8-1) improved his speed ratings in all three starts. He stretched out, switched to turf, and rallied to graduate by a head at 35-1 odds on July 20, and stalked the pace and held the show in the La Jolla on Aug. 4.
