Grade 3 Native Diver (1 1/8 miles dirt): Tarantino and Mixto mixed it up from the outset and they were 1-2 turning for home. My top choice Skinner ($9) sat back early under Hector Berrios, and he moved up to third approaching the far turn and came after the two early leaders. He gradually wore down the forwardly placed pair and scored by a length. Tarantino edged Mixto for the place by a head and it was 6 1/4 lengths back to beaten favorite Ultra Power. Salesman (IRE) was 5th and Mirahmadi was hard to handle and ran last of 6. The final time was 1:48.95 and John Shirreffs saddled the winner.

Del Mar Stakes Recaps for 11-24-24

Grade 3 Red Carpet Stakes (1 3/8 miles turf): Everything Bugs Me was intent on the early lead under Mike Smith and she was done after six panels. Ima Joker took over the running and strong favorite Forever After All stalked the pace and checked hard on the final turn. The whole picture changed in the lane and Mrs. Astor ($11.60) rallied outside and won by a length over a resurgent Forever After All. The latter might have been best but had to settle for the place, and stalker Marksman Queen (GB) was best of the rest in 3rd. Mahina, Ima Joker, Moment’s Pleasure, and Everything Bugs Me rounded out the order of finish, and the latter eased, pulled up, and walked off. Vincent Cheminaud rode the winner for Jonathan Thomas and the final time was 2:16.82.
