#7 Bellavinino (9-2) looked good earning her diploma in a local $35k maiden claimer at this distance July 28. Saffie Joseph Jr. took over as her trainer in a 6.5T allowance sprint at KD second time out, and she finished an even 4th of 11. She stretched out to a mile in the Juvenile Turf at KD Sept. 28 and stalked and landed the place behind winner May Day Ready. The latter returned to win the Jessamine (G2) and she finished 2nd in the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) last time. This filly returned to GP Oct. 26 and she rallied to miss by a neck in the Our Dear Peggy at 8T. Dryaden Van Dyke got to know her last time and he wins races with this outfit.
#2 Civetta (9-5) is 1-for-3 in turf sprints and she was competitive each time. She dueled and won by a neck in her 5.5T debut at Ellis Park. She stalked and finished an even 4th of 12 in the Uptapable at 6.5T second time out, and rallied to miss by a neck from post 11 in the Matron (G3) at 6T last time. Irad Ortiz Jr. hops aboard Brendan Walsh’s Into Mischief filly, and she is a logical contender if she handles the added ground of this race.
#5 Brutally Honest (6-1) got pace help and rallied from 11th to graduate by 2 lengths in her local flat mile turf bow at 7-1 odds Oct. 19. Mark Casse’s $230k Quality Road filly can get involved late if the pace heats up.
