Check out my Wednesday (2-19-25) Gulfstream Park Race 8 analysis below.

GP 8 (Str-OC-20k, 4&up, 7f dirt) – Post Time 4:34 PM ET
Primary – #4 AVANT GLORY
Secondary – #7 Belts ’n Brooks, #1 Santos to Wilson, #6 Jimmies Big Day

Horse Comments:

#4 Avant Glory (7-2) defeated Wednesday’s rival Belts ’n Brooks by 1 1/4 lengths as the favorite at this course/distance Dec. 26, and was a flat 4th of 5 in a local $35k claimer at 6 1/2 panels Jan. 10 (winner Air Combat won again Jan. 31). He should be forwardly place and is fast enough to compete with these on his best day.

#7 Belts ’n Brooks (5-1) was part of the trifecta in 7 of his last 9 starts, and high percentage trainer Nolan Ramsey claimed him for $20k Jan. 15. The 5-time local winner is 1-for-8 at seven panels and figures to stalk the pace under Paco Lopez.

#1 Santos to Wilson (6-1) likes to get involved early, and he did just that in local flat mile wins on Dec. 1 and Jan. 19. He hopped at the start and was 5th of 6 in the common seven panel affair Dec. 26. His winning rider Luis Saez figures to hustle him out of the inside post.

#6 Jimmies Big Day (6-1) ran well in his final three all-weather sprints last year including a sharp claiming $7.5k victory at six furlongs in December. Saffie Joseph, Jr. excels with new additions to his barn and Irad Ortiz. Jr. has been winning races with this outfit recently.
