Check out my Thursday (2-27-25) Gulfstream Park Race 8 analysis below.
GP 8 (OC-75k/1x, 3-year-olds, 1 1/8 miles dirt) – Post Time 4:30 PM ET
Primary – #4 SOLID LEFT, #1 Jimmy’s Daileys
Secondary – #3 Souper Times, #5 Grande
Horse Comments:
#4 Solid Left (6-1) was also entered in the Fountain of Youth (G2) on Saturday but goes here instead. He was 38-1 in his 7f bow and he stalked and faded. He added lasix and stalked and scored at 5-1 odds in a GP MSW race at 1 1/16 miles second time out. That was a nice forward move over a route of ground last time, and he might be able to take this if he improves again.
#1 Jimmy’s Daileys (2-1) was the beaten favorite in his first two starts. He added lasix and went off at 9-2 odds in a local extended sprint Jan. 25, and he stalked the pace and graduated by a length and a quarter. He reconnects with Irad Ortiz, Jr. and should save all the ground from the inside post.
#3 Souper Times (4-1) broke slow, sat in midpack from the outside post, and beat nine rivals in his flat mile turf bow Jan. 4. He switched to dirt and landed the place behind romping winner River Thames in a local flat mile affair Feb. 1 and that runner is one of the favorites in the Fountain of Youth (G2) on Saturday.
#5 Grande (5-2) pressed from the inside post and graduated by 2 1/2 lengths at 9-1 odds in his flat mile bow. Johnny V sticks with Todd Pletcher’s Curtlin colt and he sports back-to-back half-mile bullets for this and is bred to handle a route of ground.
