#8 Whatmakessammyrun (5-1) won back-to-back turf sprints under Fresu vs. $32k claimers (6.5T – October 2024) and $25k claimers (6T – Jan. 1). He finished 5th of 6 vs. better OC-80k/2x foes under Dettori at 6.5T Feb. 8 and he underperformed at 2-1 odds that day. The 6-time local winner reconnects with Antonio Fresu and has struck three times at this distance.
#2 Mega Moon (3-1) was nabbed out of a runner-up finish vs. this kind Dec. 29, and he moved to dirt, added blinkers, and pressed the pace that day. Papaprodromou is a strong first after the claim trainer and he struck as the favorite Jan. 26, and Ron Eliis reached in and took him for $20k. His winning rider Flavien Prat stays put and he has struck twice on turf.
#5 Simplexity (8-1) won a $25k/2L turf sprint late last year, and stretched out and scored again at 8T Feb. 9. Hector Berrios stays put and a stalking trip is expected.
#7 Doncic (8-1) made his first start since February 2024 last month for Cerin and he set the pace and weakened to 8th of 9. Eurton claimed him for $25k last time and Juan Hernandez is his new rider. He won a local turf sprint June 2023, and returned from a layoff and won back-to-back local turf sprints January 2024.
#10 Don’t Swear Dave (6-1) is a 3-time turf winner and he finished in a dead heat for the place with #1 Count of Amazonia (8-1) at 6T Feb. 23 (#4 Moody Jim 1st). He should be finishing from the outside post.
