Check out my Friday (5-9-25) Santa Anita Race 8 analysis below.
SA 8 (Clm-5k, fillies and mares, 5.5f dirt) – Post Time 7:35 PM ET
Primary – #1 I’M A RISQUE GIRL, #7 Icy Mischief
Secondary – #6 Tessa, #5 Woodbine Way
Horse Comments:
#1 I’m a Risque Girl (5-1) was fourth in the common Woodbine Way race on April 6 and better is possible. That was her first start since September 2024 and her new trainer Francisco Rodriguez is clicking at a 21% rate at Santa Anita and is 4-for-14 first after the claim. She projects an inside stalking trip under profitable sprint rider Tiago Pereira.
#7 Icy Mischief (5-1) was unplaced from the inside post in a local $10k sprint March 28. She ran well in back-to-back restricted claimers on Jan. 20 and Feb. 16, and she won the latter race. She should be forwardly placed.
#6 Tessa (7-2) rallied for the place behind Woodbine Way April 6. She is 2-for-27 with fourteen minor awards and might be best used underneath. Her last win was August 2023.
#5 Woodbine Way (3-1) ended a very long skid when picking up a $5k win April 6. She was claimed that day and was nowhere over a wet track at 38-1 odds for her new trainer April 26. She is back at her winning level and should impact the pace.
