Horse Comments:
#7 Sgt York (9-2) could not overcome a troubled start as the beaten favorite in his 2023 bow. He added blinkers and lasix, and dueled and graduated at 5-2 odds in his return to the races last summer, and the runner-up was a next-out winner. He was 1-2 when last seen October 2024 and he had a troubled start and ended up a clear second. He shows up in a new barn and this is his first start as a gelding.
#2 Hidden Ransom (3-1) added blinkers, returned from a layoff, and stalked the pace and crossed the line first in a similar local sprint April 22, and he was placed third through disqualification. He owns early-pressing versatility and is fast enough to win this if able to run two alike.
#9 Kickstart (5-1) looked good breaking his maiden in the slop Feb. 27, and he stalked from the inside post and finished 5th of 9 in the local Hidden Ransom race April 22. Robert Gorham is 6-for-16 at the current stand and this one might be more comfortable from the outside post.
