Check out my Sunday (6-8-25) Saratoga Race 13 analysis below.
SAR 13 (G1 Manhattan, 9.5T) – Post Time – 7:12 PM ET
Primary – #2 INTEGRATION, #6 Spirit of St Louis
Secondary – #4 Carson’s Run, #5 Deterministic, #9 Far Bridge
Horse Comments:
#2 Integration (9-2) is frequently in the mix on turf and he is classy enough to take this. He won the G3 Virginia Derby and G2 Hill Prince in 2023. He started 2024 with a 5th place finish in the Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1), and was 3rd in the G1 Maker’s Mark Mile and fourth in the Turf Classic (G1), first in the Million Preview, second in the Arlington Million (G1), and first in the Grade 2 Red Smith. He did all of the pace dirty work and missed by a neck in the Grade 1 Pegasus Turf on Jan. 25, and cut back in distance and landed the place behind sparkling winner Carl Spackler in the G1 Maker’s Mark Mile last time. He did not have a good trip when finishing 7th of 10 in the G1 Turf Classic May 3. He handles any turf condition and reunites with his winning Red Smith rider Flavien Prat.
#6 Spirit of St Louis (5-2) is a talented NY-bred with a 11-for-16 record (3 runner-up finishes). He won a bunch of state bred stakes routes on turf, and stepped up and rallied to win the G1 Pegasus Turf at GP Jan. 25. He was the chalk in the G2 Muniz Classic at FG March 22 (lasix on) and the 6-year-old gelding was stuck outside and never got to work out a trip. He reconnected with his winning Franco in the G1 Turf Classic at CD May 3 and he rallied for the win as the favorite. He beat Mercante last time and that one captured the G3 Arlington at CD May 31. He is 1-for-3 with two runner-up finishes at SAR and you can never dismiss win types like this, and he handles give in the ground.
#4 Carson’s Run (12-1) might be worth using in the exotics. He is 2-for-3 with a runner-up finish at SAR including a win in the G1 Saratoga Derby at this trip last summer. He returned from a layoff and rallied to finish a clear second behind Deterministic in the G2 Fort Marcy on May 3 and that race did not set up for him.
#5 Deterministic (9-2) returned as a front runner this year. He set the pace and was second best as the favorite in the slop April 6 (off the turf), and he easily went all the way as the chalk in the G2 Fort Mercy May 3 (slow early/fast late). Kendrick Carmouche got to know him last time and they are most likely going to play catch me if you can.
#9 Far Bridge (3-1) is 8-for-16 overall and he won four of his last five graded turf starts (3 wins at 12T and one win at 11T). He cuts back in distance and his winning rider Joel Rosario will need to work out a trip from the outside post.
