#7 Exington (3-1) switched surfaces and dropped in class for O’Neill on Aug. 14, and she pressed wide from the outside post, led, and was second best as my top choice. Steve Miyadi claimed her that day and she turns back and wheels back in a week. She broke her maiden in a special weight synthetic route at TP in March, and was a close 4th of 10 in a turf route at Ellis Park in July. Those two races and her Aug. 14 effort give her a look in this event.
#2 Thirsty Trickster (5-2) is an early-pressing type for quality conditioner Dean Pederson. She ran well in four straight races from October 2024 through April 2025. She stepped up to face CA-bred allowance foes and was 7th of 8 at 14-1 on May 24, and blew the break and finished 5th of 6 at 17-1 on June 14. She was my top choice in a similar local sprint on July 31 and had early trouble and rallied for the place. She will probably be closer to the pace with a clean getaway.
#3 Perfect Life (7-2) rallied for the show at 61-1 in her Mcl-12.5k bow at LRC June 20. She added lasix and stalked from post 10 and graduated by 3 3/4 lengths as the 2-1 favorite on July 24.
#1 Liquid Spirit (8-1) battled on the pace from the inside post and landed the show in a $32k claimer at SA on June 7, and was a wide 7th of 12 from post 9 in a local $16k sprint July 31. Doug O’Neill claimed her for $20k May 18 and Antonio Fresu takes the call, and she should be right up on the pace from the rail.
