Laurel Park 2025 Stakes Plays

Saturday’s (11-8-25) stakes picks from Laurel Park (Races 8, 9).

Scratches:
R8 – #3, 5, 6, 7
R9 – #4 – Big Cuddle

Updated Tickets After Scratches:

LRL 8 (Smart Halo, 6f) – Post Time 3:20 PM ET
Primary – #1 JUST PHILTORED
Secondary – #4 Prosecco Rita, #8 Doc’s Miracle

Wagers: #1 to win, Exacta 1/4-8, Exacta 4-8/1, Trifecta key 1/4-8

Comments: #1 Just Philtored (2-1) won her first three starts including a debut dirt sprint romp at LRL. She wired the field in a turf sprint stakes at CNL in August, and she was an even 5th of 8 in the G3 Matron at 6T last time. #4 Prosecco Rita (7-2) set the pace in both extended sprints as the favorite and she dusted local MSW foes Oct. 10. The $200k Yaupon filly earned a better number second time out and should be all over the pace for Team Russell. #8 Doc’s Miracle (10-1) is 1-for-7 with three runner-up finishes and she landed the place in her last two stakes. She battled on the pace and missed by a neck in a clear place finish in the Maryland Million Lassie on Oct. 11.

LRL 9 (James F. Lewis III, 6f) – Post Time 3:50 PM ET
Primary – #9 HOLLYWOOD IMPORT, #10 Balboa
Secondary – #3 Channel the Music, #2 Gurney Halleck

Wagers: #9 to win, Exacta 9/3-10, Exacta 3-10/9, Trifecta 9-10/2-3-9-10/2-3-9-10

Comments: #9 Hollywood Import (9-2) was 5-1 in his DEL dirt sprint bow and he went last-to-first in a good effort. The $50k Honor A. P. colt drilled a local gate bullet for this Nov. 1 and Gary Capuano is 43% with his recent grads trying winners for the first time. #10 Balboa (5-2) is one of those former Bob Baffert runners now trained by Brittany Russell. We have seen this type ship from California to Maryland and have success. This one romped in his maiden victory as the favorite and was no match for his stablemates and others in the G1 Del Mar Futurity and G1 American Pharoah. He puts blinkers back on and sports two local moves for this, and he should be right up on the pace. #3 Channel the Music (10-1) finished last of 6 in a fast renewal of the G3 Futurity at 6T and show finisher Attfield returned to take the Central Park Stakes on Nov. 7. This one cruised by 6+ lengths as the even money favorite at 6.5f second time out, and was third in the Sapling at one mile on Aug. 30. He improved his speed ratings in all four starts and drilled a bullet for this Oct. 26. The $200k purchase returns to dirt and Duarte Jr. is a profitable 21% with his non-graded starters. #2 Gurney Halleck (3-1) is a WV-bred colt and he ran well in all three state bred starts at CT.
