Horse Comments:
#4 La Cantera (3-1) won a local flat mile turf race as the favorite on Nov. 1 and Carlos Davis claimed her that day. She stalked the pace and landed the place in a synthetic route on Nov. 30 and she is 0-for-4 with four minor awards on all-weather ground. She usually runs her tactical race on turf (8 3-1-2) and Junior Alvarado is her new pilot.
#7 Mary Marguerite (6-1) was part of the exacta in all three starts on different surfaces. She landed the place behind a runaway winner in her dirt sprint bow and she won her last two route starts on turf and all-weather. I like her tactical speed and she is getting faster.
#5 Souper Amusing (5-1) was part of the trifecta in six of seven turf starts (3 wins). She reconnects with her winning rider Jorge Ruiz and an early-pressing trip is expected.
#2 Insolenta (6-1) went all the way in her last two local all-weather routes by a combined 19 1/4 lengths. Nicholas Tomlinson re-claimed her out of her last start and she is 0-for-7 with three runner-up finishes on turf. Javier Castellano takes the call and she should be right up on the pace.
