Santa Anita Recap for Saturday (2-21-26)

Fast main track and good turf course (upgraded to firm for races 9-10). One front running winner at seven panels on dirt (6f, 8f). On the turf course, a stalking favorite scored in the flat mile opener, a 5-1 closer tallied at one mile, a midpack stalking favorite won at 6.5f, even money choice Gratefully went all the way in the Wishing Well at 6f, a 7-2 closer won on the downhill course, and a 31-1 presser won the flat mile finale.

Kazushi Kimura (dirt) and Tiago Pereira both booted home a pair. Tim Yakteen saddled three flat mile winners (2 turf winners).

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 2-21-26

Wishing Well (6T): Race favorite Gratefully ($4.00) broke on top and gamely held off Saratoga Special (IRE) to prevail by a head. The latter was making her first start in this country for Richard Baltas and ran too good to lose. Antifona (FR) was along for the show at 72-1 odds and Amorita (4th), Nay V Belle (5th), Egyptian Mau (6th), Imaboutago (7th), Miss Lizzy (8th), and Jungle Peace (9th) also ran. Florent Geroux rode the winner for Robert Falcone, Jr. Fractions: 21.86, 44.62, 56.08, 1:07.83.

The $2 Pick 6 pool was $75,038 and there were no tickets with six winners. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $183.20. There will be a Pick 6 carryover of $40,088 when live racing resumes on Sunday, Feb. 22.

Santa Anita Recap for Sunday (2-22-26)

Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running winner at seven panels on dirt (6f, 5.5f) . On the turf course, a 4-1 stalker graduated in the flat mile opener, a stalking favorite tallied at 6f, a 14-1 stalker earned his diploma at 6.5f, stalking favorite Greenwich Village won the Pasadena at 8f, a 7-1 closer scored at 6.5f on the downhill course, and a 7-2 stalker graduated in the flat mile finale (rail at 20 feet).

Juan Hernandez guided home three winners on turf. Armando Ayuso booted home two winners. George Papaprodromou saddled two sprint winners.

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 2-22-26

Pasadena (8T): Medici got clear from the outside post and almost went all the way, but Greenwich Village ($5.40) stalked the pace and got up by a nose. Medici ran too good to lose and closer Iriseach (IRE) was another neck back in third. Caro Buono (FR), Later Than Planned (saddle slipped, traffic), Unrivaled Time, Army Man, Brigante, and Smoovin Saturday also ran. Sammy Davis and Bust Out scratched. Juan Hernandez rode the winner for Bob Baffert. Fractions: 22.82, 46.38, 1:10.31, 1:22.39, 1:34.72.

The $2 Pick 6 carryover pool was $296,969 and there were no tickets with six winners. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $1,937.40. There will be a double Pick 6 carryover of $198,741 when live racing resumes on Friday, Feb. 27.
