#7 Beef Winslow (2-1) was popular at the claim box on June 15 and July 25. Robert Hess, Jr. nabbed him for $50k July 25 and he stalked from an outer post and finished an even third as the beaten favorite Aug. 22 (blinkers on). The versatile gelding stalked from the inside post and easily scored as the favorite in a $40k flat mile affair in October (2-3 finishers next-out winners). This one turned back and smartly beat next-out winner Doncic as the favorite at 6.5T Jan. 15. The 6-time local winner is 5-for-9 at one mile and he reconnects with Juan Hernandez.
#1 Kokosan (9-2) chased from second and aired by 5 1/4 lengths as the strong favorite in a local MSW affair at 8T Jan. 9 and the show finisher was a next-out winner. He was the favorite from the outside post in a similar local 8T event Feb. 15 and he split a 10-horse field ((beaten 1.25 lengths). He should save ground from the inside post this time.
#3 Baldoro (6-1) has good tactical speed and he was part of the exacta in six of his last eight starts. He completed the exacta vs. this kind on Jan. 18 and Feb. 15, and his winning rider Diego Herrera strings along. He is 2-for-21 at SA (10 minor awards) and is 0-for-13 with six place finishes and three show finishes at 8T. I like him more underneath.
