Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running winner at one mile on dirt. On the turf course, a front running favorite won the 9f opener, a stalking favorite graduated at 6f, a stalking favorite tallied at 6.5f, and a 9-1 stalker earned his diploma in the flat mile finale (rail at 30 feet).

Hat trick for Emisael Jaramillo (2 turf wins). Doug O’Neill saddled three winners and Jaramillo rode two. Mark Glatt saddled two turf winners.

The $2 Pick 6 pool was $64,168 and tickets with six winners paid $11,427.00. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $170.60.

Fast main track and firm turf course. One front running winner at six panels on dirt. On the turf course, a stalking favorite won the 6f opener, 5-2 presser Sumter captured the San Simeon (G3) at 6.5f on the downhill course, a 3-1 midpack stalker scored at 6f, a 5-1 stalker tallied at one mile, and a 4-1 front runner earned her diploma in the 6f finale.

Hat trick for Antonio Fresu (2 turf sprints). Riding double for Mike Smith (turf).

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 3-14-26

Grade 3 San Simeon (6.5T hillside): Quereme Pass (ARG) and Sumter battled from the outset from the two inside posts. It came down to those two and Sumter ($7.80) prevailed by a nose and Quereme Pass held off Genius Jimmy for the place by a head. Sorrento Sky (IRE), Gran Oriente (CHI), and Seal Team (GB) also ran. Mike Smith rode the winner for Richard Mandella. Fractions: 21.96, 44.28, 1:06.65, 1:12.80.

The $2 Pick 6 pool was $60.088 and there were no tickets with six winners. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $598.00. There will be a Pick 6 carryover of $32,101 when live racing resumes on Sunday, March 15.

On the turf course, a 10-1 closer graduated in the one mile opener, a 6-1 stalker earned his diploma at 6f, a 10-1 closer tallied at one mile, 6-1 midpack stalker Take a Breath (GB) captured the Santa Ana (G3) at 1 1/4 miles, and a midpack stalking favorite won the 6f finale (rail at 20 feet).

Riding doubles for Antonio Fresu (sprints) and Emisael Jaramillo (turf routes). Mark Glatt saddled two turf winners. 

Santa Anita Stakes Recaps for 3-15-26

Grade 3 Santa Ana (10T): 37-1 longshot A Thousand Miles set the tempo and my top choice Public Assembly chased from second, led, and weakened late. This one came down to midpack stalkers Take a Breath ($15.60) and Resolve (12-1 odds), and the former got her nose down on the wire. 2-1 favorite Mrs. Astor rallied from post 10 to land the show and she was a half-length in front of Public Assembly. Paradise Lake was an even 5th and was followed by Hey Jessie (6th), Queen Sienna (7th), A Thousand Miles (8th), Starry Night (9th), and Ima Joker (10th). Emisael Jaramillo guided home the winner for Mark Glatt. Fractions: 24.30, 49.03, 1:14.42, 1:38.47, 2:02.06. 

The $2 Pick 6 carryover pool was $323,735 and tickets with six winners paid $205,053.40. The 5 out of 6 consolation prize was $1,083.40.
