#1 – ZANY (American Pharoah – Mo’ Green, by Uncle Mo) – Trainer: Todd Pletcher – Last Ranking (1)
Comments: She is a stakes winner at 1 1/8 miles (G2 Demoiselle), and she beat next-out FG Oaks (G2) winner Life of Joy in the Suncoast earlier this year. She tasted defeat for the first time when second best behind Percy’s Bar in the Ashland (G3) on April 3. There seems to be more in the tank and I will watch her upcoming workouts closely.
#2 – MEANING (Gun Runner – Figure of Speech, by Into Mischief) – Trainer: Michael McCarthy – Last Ranking (2)
Comments: This one is lightly raced and I like her speed rating pattern. The SA Oaks (G2) winner seems to have more upside and might peak at Churchill Downs.
#3 – BELLA BALLERINA (Street Sense – Pretty City Dancer, by Tapit) – Trainer: Brendan Walsh – Last Ranking (3)
Comments: They are teaching her to relax behind horses in her works since finishing second as the favorite in the FG Oaks (G2). She breezed 5f in 1:01.80 (6/21) at KEE on April 11. She seems to be learning her training lessons and would not have to improve much to win the Kentucky Oaks.
#4 – LIFE OF JOY (Gun Runner – Jordan’s Leo, Malibu Moon) – Trainer: Brad Cox – Last Ranking (4)
Comments: She broke through with a new top in the FG Oaks (G2). She has arrived at Churchill and breezed a half-mile in 49.60 (18/19) under the Twin Spires on April 3.
#5 – COUNTING STARS (Honor A. P. – Paynterbythenumbers, by Paynter) – Trainer: Mark Casse – Last Ranking (5)
Comments: Competed in five stakes races at Oaklawn since December 2025 with wins in the Astral Spa, Year’s End, and Fantasy (G2), and a runner-up finish in the Honeybee (G3). She has already raced seven times and others might have more upside.
