Check out my Friday (5-15-26) Laurel Park Race 9 analysis below.
LRL 9 (Hilltop, 8T) – Post Time 3:54 PM ET
Primary – #1 USE ME, #2 Ultimate Love
Secondary – #6 Unmiztaken, #3 Coach Mazzula, #4 Siouxse
Horse Comments:
#1 Use Me (7-2) rallied for the place from the inside post at 7.5T Feb. 21. She was 6-1 in her career bow that day and it was a slow early/fast late event. She was the favorite at 8T second time out and stalked the pace and graduated by 2 lengths at KEE (show finisher next-out winner). Brendan Walsh is a profitable 22% with his grads trying winners for the first time and Tyler Gaffalione sticks. She should save ground behind the speed and her dam was a stakes winner.
#2 Ultimate Love (4-5) won her first three starts and improved her speed ratings in those three races. She won those starts by a combined 13 1/4 lengths including a 4-length tally as the favorite in the local Selma. She earned a quality late pace rating in the aforementioned Selima, and she was an even 5th of 12 (beaten 3 lengths) from the inside post as the beaten favorite when last seen in the G1 BC Juvenile Fillies Turf October 2025. John Velazquez got to know her last time and she drilled a Fair Hill bullet for this May 2, and she is 2-for-2 at LRL.
#6 Unmiztaken (10-1) added blinkers and rallied for the place at 8T April 18 and that was her first start since December 2025. The NY-bred filly gets the services of Jose Ortiz and I like her running style versatility. She earned a decent late pace rating vs. older foes last time and the price might be right.
#3 Coach Mazzula (6-1) was part of the trifecta in all six turf starts for Brittany Russell and the 2-time local winner owns early-pressing versatility. She wired the field in her maiden win last fall, and she stalked from second and won a local allowance race as the favorite April 18 (show finisher next-out winner). Her winning rider Jevian Toledo stays put and she might be the one to catch.
#4 Siouxse (12-1) improved in all three starts last year. She rallied mildly from the inside post to finish 4th of 10 in her 5.5T bow and recent Take the A Train winner Cadenza won that that MSW event. This one stretched out and stalked from the inside post and finished second at this course and distance October 2025, and stalked and graduated by 3+ lengths in a turf route at AQU when last seen November 2025. Flavien Prat is her new rider and Motion is 26% with his grads trying winners for the first time. Her last three works at Fair Hill were from the gate.
