Check out my Thursday (7-2-26) Colonial Downs Race 7 analysis below.

CNL 7 (Alw-72k/2L, 3yo Fillies, 8f inner turf) – Post Time  1:33 PM ET
Primary – #5 SCREEN TEST, #1 Mia Familia
Secondary – #3 Cooperation, #9 Connect the Stars, #11 Horsing Around

Horse Comments:

#5 Screen Test (5-1) chased wide from post 10 and split the field in her local 5.5T bow last summer. She rallied to graduated by 3+ lengths as the favorite at LRL second time out. She was the favorite in her first two starts, and she was 9th of 11 at 9-1 odds in an allowance turf route at KEE when last seen October 2025. Graham Motion is 19% with his first lasix starters and she reconnects with her winning rider Jorge Ruiz (6-for-15 w/Motion).

#1 Mia Familia (7-2) stalked and graduated at 8.5T April 12 and the show finisher was a next-out winner. She stalked and weakened to 6th of 8 in the Honey Ryder at 8T May 2, and stalked and missed by a half-length in a clear place finish in the Martha Washington on synthetic ground June 6. She is back on turf and out of the stakes ranks, and a ground saving stalking trip is expected.

#3 Cooperation (8-1) is slowly getting faster for quality conditioner Arnaud Delacour. She stretched out, set the pace, and held on by a nose in a local 8T MSW affair last summer. She set the pace and weakened to 7th of 10 in her needed CD return May 7, and she turned back, chased the pace, and finished 3rd of 10 at 5.5T June 5. She is back at her winning distance in her third start off the bench and she might be the one to catch.

#9 Connect the Stars (5-1) was part of the exacta in half of her ten starts. She was in good form at GP earlier this year and missed by a neck in the Sanibel Island. She misfired in her last two starts at CD and might bounce back at a hint of a price. Her new rider Sonny Leon is 5-for-15 with Mark Casse.

#11 Horsing Around (6-1) exits a synthetic sprint maiden win. Recently hot rider Paco Lopez takes the call and Saffie Joseph, Jr. is 23% with his recent grads trying winners for the first time.
