Horse Comments:
#10 Syntax (7-2) rallied for the place in her local sprint bow last fall and that was her lone attempt at DMR. She was a close fourth at 6T second time out, and she returned to dirt and graduated by a nose as the favorite at 6f Jan. 25. She was unplaced in a dirt route and turf sprint in February and March, and dropped in class and cruised in a $10k claiming sprint at this trip April 3 (Barocio claimed her). She set the pace and was third at 6f May 3, and she stretched out, moved to turf, and wired the field May 24. She competed in the Desert Stormer at 6f June 11 and finished a clear second. Jordan Wycoff purchased her since her last start and Michael McCarthy is her new trainer, and her new pilot Umberto Rispoli is 3-for-6 with this outfit recently. She likes this distance (4 2-1-1) and sports a pair of local moves for this, and a repeat of her last number would be enough to win this.
#3 Miss Kona (4-1) was 12-1 in her local 5.5f bow Aug. 10 and she was far back early and finished with interest for the place. She was the favorite in a local 6f sprint second time out and she rallied to win by a length and a half. She was 3-1 when last seen in the GS Juvenile Fillies (October 2025) and broke slow and had too much work to do in a 4th of 11 finish. Peter Eurton’s Union Rags filly adds lasix and Antonio Fresu sticks with her, and she worked a half-mile at DMR July 19.
#8 Miss Practical (8-1) returns to dirt and turns back for her new trainer Ryan Hanson. She adds blinkers and her new rider Edwin Maldonado is 2-for-8 with this outfit. She was part of the trifecta in all five dirt attempts (5 1 3-1).
#4 La Silenciosa (6-1) added blinkers and lasix and easily went all the way at 5.5f second time out, and she dueled and weakened to 4th of 7 as the beaten favorite at 6f May 2. The fresh filly sports two local moves for this and should be all over the pace under her regular rider Emisael Jaramillo.
#1 Redheaded Reba (8-1) was part of the trifecta in all four dirt sprints. Her running style versatility might allow her to work out a trip from the tricky inside post under her new rider Hector Berrios. Daniel Dunham is 0-for-24 with his allowance starters and 1-for-60 with his dirt runners.
